Do I need a license permit to drive a Tuk Tuk?
To drive a Tuk Tuk in Sri Lanka, you need a Sri Lankan Recognition Permit with the "3-wheel" endorsement on it. We can obtain this by using your International Driving Permit (IDP) if you have a B/C endorsement on it. As of 30 March 2025, the Automobile Association of Ceylon requires you to have an International Driving Permit (IDP) to process your Sri Lankan Recognition Permit. If you are in your home country, we recommend obtaining an IDP before you travel.
I want to take the train between Kandy and Nuwara Eliya. Is this possible with my Tuk Tuk?
Yes! We have a contact who can drive your Tuk Tuk in either direction between Kandy and Nuwara Eliya while you take the famous train trip. Get in touch with us when you book to arrange this. Train tickets also book out well in advance, so make sure you get your ticket early!
Can I drop the Tuk Tuk to a different location?
Yes, of course. Just let us know 02 days before you drop off and and our driver will come to your hotel and pick up the Tuk Tuk. Please note that there are location charges involved.
Can I drive a Tuk Tuk in the tolled Expressway?
No. Tuk Tuks and bikes are not allowed on tolled Expressways in Sri Lanka.
What do I do in case of a breakdown?
Simply give us a call on any issue. We will give you all the assistance over the phone in getting you back on the drive.
Is there an insurance fee?
There is a flat insurance fee of €50 per vehicle. This is a one off fee for your entire rental of the vehicle.
